Not the greatest. Poor customer service from the reception staff. Quite rude and surly staff. Waiting and cleaning staff are lovely. Hotel is dated. Facilities are clean and tidy. Bar staff are lovely and very helpful. The Shuttle driver was also very kind and made us feel very welcome. All in all, mainly good service with some less than satisfactory aspects which need attention. A mixed bag.
There was a man with an extraordinary mullet staying at the Embassy. He was truly a peacock among men. A party mullet of this magnitude had to have taken years to grow. The Embassy, though it pales in comparison to the mullet, is a family friendly hotel, with a great happy hour and breakfast. The price was very good and the quality high. I'd definitely stay there again, especially if that mullet were there too.
Don't let the outside fool you. For the price, the inside of this hotel is extremely beautiful with its open feel and spacious atrium. The rooms have a living area that is separate from the bedroom. It includes a microwave and a small refrigerator. They also have a wonderful complimentary breakfast and a happy hour that includes free drinks. I've been coming here for years for conferences and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Plus, it's a short walk to historic Charleston and many other restaurants and attractions.
Parking here is limited. The check-in in was a little slow with a large group. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the hotel served good food for a decent price, the rooms were very large and comfortable. Overall I enjoyed my stay.
I was very disappointed with my stay. We arrived late (11:45 PM) and the security guard found the front office staff in the back room after we had waited 10 minutes in the lobby to check in. When we got to our room, I found the sheets in one of the beds to have a stain that appeared to be human feces still caked on them. I called down and all that was offered was to bring clean sheets, which I had to put on. The breakfast was pretty good but not nearly as good as other Embassy Suites I have stayed at. The whirlpool was just shy of bath water (again, other Embassy Suites do a much better job of heating their hot tubs). The person in the pool area seemed very put out when asking about towels for the area each time only bringing less than 6. When I went to check out the front office person stated the night person was quitting so she probably didn't care about any of my concerns and that the hotel was older and needed renovations. She also told me about a parking charge that I hadn't been informed of the night before (they did remove). Since I had used points to book the room they weren't able to provide any compensation but did say they would put points on my Hilton Honors account. I'm extremely disappointed since we look for Embassy Suites every where we go, I'm just hoping this was an isolated incident.
