After our first, and last visit to this Veterinarian (Amy Morris, DVM), I feel compelled to write a review and maybe save a pet in the process. We took our pet Senegal Parrot in for an exam because she had a swollen abdomen, which we were thinking was an egg. In order to find out, an x-ray had to be taken requiring our bird to be put under to hold her still. Twenty-five minutes after she was taken back, we were told it was indeed an egg and a shot of calcium and oxytocin would be administered to help in the passing process. Five minutes after that, we were told our bird stopped breathing while she was under anesthesia. In the end, we were charged for CPR along with all the other charges. As a kindness I suppose, as we were leaving with our pet in a cardboard box, we were told the veterinarian would do an autopsy for free to determine what the mass in her swollen abdomen was. We were under the impression they already knew what the mass was, seeing how SHE TOLD us it was an egg (which leads me to believe miscommunication exists among the Vet and Vet assistant, or they played a guessing game lab experiment on our pet). That was our story, this is my review: The staff was friendly enough, but friendly does not save lives. Amy Morris, the veterinarian treating our pet seemed to know the basics about birds that any website found from google can tell you, but told us nothing we haven't read in a book or googled ourselves. She speaks very fast and she is hard to understand because her words run together. She told us two completely different stories about our pet. I DO NOT think they are knowledgable enough in the treatment of pet birds, and I wish we would have known this before yesterday. In the end, it cost $322.00 to walk in, wait 40 min and leave with our beautiful feather friend in a box. I am thoroughly disgusted and feel as if we have been robbed of a huge chunk of happiness in our lives. I would not recommend this office for bird owners.
Incredible people! So warm and friendly. My dog was fixed up immediately :)
