Great, hip downtown area. Easy to navigate and street parking was easy, even on a Saturday around dinner time. Mind the one-way streets. Plenty of parking lots, bars, and great food.
Very nice area. I love going here when I visit the city. They have some great places to get food and coffee along the street. Also very little traffic.
I had a wonderful time in Charleston. The art scene is very alive and well in Charleston. If you get a chance visit on the third Thursday. That Thursday at night downtown there is a Really vibrant group of artists and supporters. Lots of great art to purchase and experience. I understand it changes each month.
We walked around for hours just reading all the plaques and taking in all the sights. This city is absolutely incredible. If you're a history buff it's probably one of the most enjoyable cities to get a good vacation out of. If you're going during the summer you can hit the beach in the day, and then go to four different museums at night and still have a pile to choose from the next day. We went as a vacation birthday surprise a few months ago, and after 3 days we left with every intention of coming back
nothing much to say about this place. It is unimpressive, though I'm told they do great work. Of course, that work probably includes preserving Richmond's southern heritage, which, like most proteome these days, I'm not really a fan of. I mean, that heritage is on the wrong side of history for a reason, and the primary reasons I think it should be preserved are because it is an important part of America's history, and because it includes a LOT of mistakes that I hope cutie generations NEVER repeat. I guess monument avenue did erect a statue of a famous African American tennis star, but it looks like he's beating the kids in the statue with his racket. I'm sure that was an oversight, but man...it does not look good!
